Frida Kahlo Hat

This project explores the intersection of femininity, identity, and symbolism through the lens of Frida Kahlo's life and art. Inspired by Kahlo's use of flowers, hair, and cultural references to express womanhood and personal struggle, the work integrates these elements into a 1940s–1950s-inspired hat design. Key themes include fertility, resilience, and the evolving role of women, with materials and shapes chosen to echo both Kahlo’s aesthetic and the transformative fashion of the era. The piece was created for the Feltmakers’ Guild Award, using wool to honor the brief while drawing conceptual links between hair, hats, and female identity.
