A piece designed for the 2025 World of Wearable Art competition in New Zealand, for the theme Open. The ensemble is inspired by ornate patterns found on bird cages and cast iron objects. The headpiece and the crinoline cage-structures limit the wearer’s movement similar to an actual cage but still allows for limbs to be moved through various gaps so the wearer is both caged in yet free to move within the openings.
